Referred to by the locals as “PJ”, Petaling Jaya just about justifies the reputation of being a satellite city of Kuala Lumpur. Over the last 50 years, PJ has grown leaps and bounds, and stands on the verge of competing with Kuala Lumpur in every aspect possible. Demographically, Petaling Jaya is divided into six sub sections referred to as SS1, SS2 and so on.

Petaling Jaya offers the classic mix of residential properties as well as properties with a commercial interest. Shopping complexes in the SS2, Damansara Jaya, Section 14 amongst others offer a lot of opportunities for people to shop. Coincidentally, it is this aspect of PJ that provides a lot of job opportunities to people.

Jobs in Petaling Jaya would thus never be a problem. With shopping complexes, and commercial arcades lining up almost every street, Jobs in Petaling Jaya just keep regenerating themselves. Presence of about 23 colleges and other educational institutions ensure that graduates are churned out year after year to meet the job needs of employers.

A 2007 report suggests that PJ is expected to undergo a major renovation and redevelopment activities. This can only be good news for PJ, because any renovation to PJ would lead to more jobs in PJ. In earlier days, some couple of decades back, PJ was known to have a lot of jobs in the rubber industry. Now, with all the revolution in place, it has gone on to diversify a lot.

Section 14 is one of the best areas for you to find jobs in PJ. This is a plush residential complex that has job opportunities for everyone, especially in Information Technology and Retail. In fact, if you observe the behavior patterns of people staying in PJ, you would note a curious correlation with Kuala Lumpur.

You would find that jobs in Kuala Lumpur far outnumber jobs in PJ. This statistic, analysts believe is here to stay for another 10-20 years till the time companies make the transition from Kuala Lumpur to PJ. For now, PJ can already boast of cheaper rents, something that could make companies to settle at PJ. That could only mean jobs in PJ could go up.
