Landing a 5-digit salary job with a plush Chevrolet may seem like it is a dream job already! For years now, Human Resources experts have suggested that high paying jobs may not necessarily be the best. A survey conducted amongst professionals in high paying jobs does throw light to this fact.
As per the survey, it was found that in certain countries, the number of employees in high paying jobs was as high as 10%. Considering people get paid to do critical tasks of the organization, these numbers are high. It is time you know some reasons why high paying jobs are not necessarily the best.
4 reasons why high paying jobs are not always the best!
- Added pressure of the job - High paying jobs in most cases, demand a lot of the professional. A person drawing a huge salary is sure to have sleepless nights. He could enjoy the attention for the first couple months, only for him to get burned out by time.
- High expectations on performance - People drawing big monthly salaries live by the Damocles’ sword every day. They are expected to perform almost on a daily basis.
- Salary mismatch - In certain cases, if individuals are paid more than what they are qualified for, it results in setting undue expectations for the individuals. Importantly, the person may not be able to find an equally high paying job, the next time he applies for a job.
- Imbalance in social life - Ask a lot of highly paid professionals as to what is the one thing they miss badly! All of them would say, “Social Life is gone from their routine”. This statement is true in the context of professionals who are paid high, as they end spending a lot of hours at office. Maintaining satisfaction levels amongst family members also goes for a toss.
In a country like Malaysia, the work can get to you at times, especially if you are in a Management role. Malaysian employers do not discriminate and select people for jobs based on their credentials. It is tough competition out here in Malaysia, and you should be at the peak of your skills and experience should you want to succeed.
Getting high paying jobs in Malaysia is not a tough ask. You would get plenty of opportunities for you to get one. Sustaining your performance in the high paying job though could be a challenge.
